Pineapple Pretzel Fluff

This is my “go to” dessert recipe for large crowds…I have made this many times for the church. It never fails that I get asked for the recipe. In fact, this may be the recipe I get asked for the MOST! lol! It is SO easy to make and is deeeelish! My mother in law first made this and brought it over to my house…and since then I have made it more times than I can count!

Pineapple Pretzel Fluff

1 cup coarsely crushed pretzels

1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted

1 cup sugar, divided

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained

1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed

Directions

In a bowl, combine pretzels, butter and 1/2 cup sugar. Press into a 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Bake at 400 degrees F for 7 minutes. Cool.

Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and remaining sugar until creamy. Fold in pineapple and whipped topping; chill until serving.

Break pretzel mixture into small pieces; stir into pineapple mixture and layer some along the top.

I had never heard of fluff (beyond marshmallow) until this week and now I have seen all kinds of recipes for it. I guess this means we will have to try it!

  2. Have you ever tried spreading the pineapple/cream cheese mixture on the pretzel bottom and cutting into squares. I think there is a strawberry dessert similar to this that is really good.

    • Hi Sandy! Yes, I will be making the Strawberry Pretzel Salad this week (due to popular demand!) However, the fluff in this recipe would not allow for cutting….so to keep it simple, the crumbs are better on top as a “salad” if you will. This is delicious!

  3. Hey Janelle! Question about this dessert.. If you were taking this fluff to a picnic/cookout, would you add the pretzel mixture before you left your house or would you wait until just before serving to add? I wasn’t sure if the pretzels would become soggy if it was in the fluff to long? I am planning to make this for a family picnic this weekend!

  4. I’m making this tonight for a back to school gathering! I can’t wait to try it!

  5. Hi Janelle!! I’m making this gluten free and taking it to a block party in the new neighborhood. Wish me luck, I’m hoping they like this so much that I won’t be as afraid of all the new people!! 😉
