Let’s face it…we live in a fast paced world right now. Convenience has become a huge factor in what we feed our children and what we eat ourselves. The food industry has made it easy for us with individually bagged chips, fruit snacks, cookies, etc. Yes, there are the 100 calorie bags, which I appreciate, but I know they aren’t always healthy.
There ARE ways to make “healthy” choices AND have them be convenient. One way that I practice this in my home is by “bagging” healthy foods. When I get home from the grocery store, or farmers market…I simply wash, cut, and individually bag fruits, veggies, and cheese. I place the bags in the bottom drawer of my refrigerator and allow my children to take a snack from there whenever they get hungry (with moderation). I love that they can get to it on their own, and that they are getting a healthy snack. If we are in a hurry to get out the door, I also grab bags from this drawer and put them in an insulated bag.
Another great tip: Freeze “Gogurt” and place in an insulated bag with the fruits. They keep everything cold and they thaw when the children are ready to eat them!

I โฅ it! Iยดve been doing it since I had my fisrt boy: 18 years ago!!!!
Great idea! Thanks for the tip! ๐
I LOVE this tip! Thank you!
Great idea,thank you…
I SO do this and you are SO right the kids will grab this stuff instead of the junk. I want the junk out of my house all together. Maybe I can talk the family into fasting with me over the junk food… Will see! Thanks for the great reminder!!
What great tips Janelle. I have to buy big bags of carrots now – I just don't bother cutting them into sticks because my teenage boys eat whole carrots. I sometimes think I'm raising a family of rabbits because my girls are often to be seen munching on carrots too! And then I go to make a stir fry and exclaim 'Who ate all the carrots!'
Great ideas! Mmm…I'm lovin' these summer fruits and veggies right now! ๐
I TOO love this!! It's sooo easy too when going to the park, beach or zoo to just grab some already packed snacks & throw them in a bag. I've also invested in snack size tupperware since we went through ziploc bags like you wouldn't believe ๐ I've done the same thing with trail mix, goldfish crackers etc in the cupboard as it also keeps my boys from eating an entire box.
Love the ideas, will be starting lil snack bags here at my home! =}
Thanks, I needed this reminder right now. I've been grabbing sweets instead of healthy snacks because I'm not taking the time to take care of myself.
I love this. Feel like a bad Moma to admit it but had never thought of something so easy. I love to give my family healhy options, and this will really help especially when we are in a hurry.
