Low-Country Boil {so easy}

I love this recipe because it’s delicious, easy, my entire family gobbles it up, it’s decently healthy, and can be gluten-free!

*Preparing this dish for a meal ministry? Just place everything in a pot and take it over to your loved one’s home and put it covered on the stove. This is such an easy meal to make and take! Very little prep and clean-up.

Fill stock pot 3/4 of the way with water {about 10 cups for me} , add 1/4 cup of Old Bay seasoning, turn on high heat and bring to a rapid boil.

Yes, Old Bay is Gluten-Free!

4 bi-color corn on the cobs, 1 1/2 lbs baby red potatoes, 1 package Hillshire Farms smoked sausage, and 1 1/2 pounds raw shrimp.

Rinse potatoes and add them whole to the boiling water first…boil for 15 mins.

If your shrimp is frozen- no worries. Just place in a colander and rinse with luke warm water for a couple mins. Shrimp thaws and cooks quickly!

Slice sausage into coin sized slices. Rinse and break corn into halves.

After potatoes boil for 15 mins, throw everything else in the pot and let it boil for another 6-7 mins.

When it’s all done, ladle it out into a large lasagna pan. I put a little butter on the corn and sprinkled it with some sea salt {I get my sea salt at Marcs}.

Mmmmm!!!! This really is such a delicious meal and SO so so so so so easy. If you can boil water, you can make it. My children are huge shrimp fans- they even like “peel and eat” {pictured above}…I cut open their potatoes and put a little ketchup on top- their plates were empty in 5 mins flat.

Winner, Winner Low-Country Boil Dinner!

  1. Thats called Beaufort stew in my native state of SC. Love love love. Reminds me of lazy days at the beach and Super Bowl!!

  2. Hi, Janelle! I don’t know if I’ve ever left a comment before, so here you go. I love your blog! I’ve made several of your recipes, and my family and I would love to thank you. You are so sweet to share with us these easy, yummy dinner ideas. I’ve been reading your blog since about January, and our favorite recipe of yours is probably the homemade macaroni and cheese. It is delicious! Or the molten lava cakes…or the crescent chicken…need I go on? 😉

Tonight I tried this Low Country Broil and it was every bit as wonderful. I forgot the corn, though, so next time I’ll make sure and have some. I also used the frozen peeled and de-veined shrimp out of the freezer of my grocery store. It worked great, too. I mash up the potatoes and treat them like baked potatoes…with lots of butter, sour cream, salt and pepper.

Thank you again! I always look forward to reading what you’re cooking!

    God bless,
    Jen

    • Aww thank you Jennifer…your comment is such a blessing to go to bed to…so thankful you are serving your family and they are enjoying your home cookin!!!! MUCH love to you!!!!!!

  3. Tried this recipe tonight for the first time, and everyone liked it. My FAVORITE part though was the corn… I had never had Old Bay before, but I was literally licking my fingers after the corn. Yum! From now on I think I’m boiling my corn with Old Bay!

  4. Hi Janelle, I had my in-laws in town this past weekend and I made this Low Country Boil. I doubled it and it turned out soooooo good! My whole family loved it. I put most of it in a giant bowl and we had jokes going about how my father-in-law was sausage diving into the bowl. It was great. All your recipes are “comfy” and easy and wonderful! I’ve made the poppy seed sliders twice now and the spinach strawberry salad three times and tonight I tried the apple dessert (apples in crescent rolls with the Mt. Dew – sooooo yummy!!!) It turned out so great I got in the car and drove some over to my parents to try while it was still warm. Thank you for all you go through to share it all with us! God bless you!

  5. I’m allergic to shrimp so could I leave it out?? being a Mainer I am such a Keilbasa Potatoes and Corn girl! This sounds SO good!

  6. Thank you so very much for this delicious GF recipe!! My husband is from the coast of GA and loves low country boil, so I will be making this instead of his having to enjoy it at a restaurant!! God bless you!!

  8. I’m late to the commenting party, but in the South when we serve LCB we cover a patio table or picnic table with newspapers and put the LCB down the center for everyone to use their fingers and forks to get what they want and put it on their plate! Fun!
