Sweet Garlic Glazed Chicken

My mom forwarded me this recipe and my, oh, my is it a keeper! As you know, I’m a huge fan of sweet and savory dishes- this one is no exception! Enjoy!

Chop fresh garlic – it’s gotta be fresh for this recipe {I know, I know- I don’t like the smell of it on my hands for days either….but it’s worth it for this one}.

In a small/medium pan add olive oil and sauté garlic on medium heat until tender. Be very careful with your stovetop setting-garlic can burn quickly!

Add brown sugar to the olive oil and garlic- stir until it makes a paste.

Place thawed chicken breasts in a 9×13 pan, cover with paste and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake uncovered at 400 for approximately 20 mins. I placed mine on a cookie sheet, but when I make this again, I’ll use a 9×13- there was a little spillage, don’t ya hate that?.

*I am a huge fan of smaller, organic chicken breasts. If your chicken is larger than shown below, make sure to pound it. This will help it cook evenly!

Mmmmmm…..You’re going to love this one! Thanks Mom!

  1. This chicken sounds wonderful! I bet it smells delicious when it bakes, too! Thanks for passing along the recipe:)
    Blessings,

  2. Interestingly enough, after chopping fresh garlic, you can rub your fingers over a metal utensil (I actually use my garlic press) or your metal kitchen sink, if you have one, and it will take the garlic smell right out of your fingers. I wouldn’t have believed it myself if I hadn’t tried it myself. This recipe looks wonderful!

  3. Yummy!! I can’t wait to make this chicken. Thanks for the recipe!!

  4. This sounds delicious … and as a random aside … isn’t rubbing your hands on stainless steel supposed to help neutralise the smell of garlic????

  5. Yummy! Think I’ll make this tonight. I’m sure I’ll love it. Hope my VERY picky hubby likes it too. But he doesn’t even like the way I make sandwiches & finds a fault in some component of almost every dish I make, so we shall see. Thanks for sharing! 😉

  6. What are some sides you might recommend with this. A few options would be great 🙂

    • Sure! some good sides would be: corn on the cob, green beans, scalloped potatoes, rice, steamed broccoli, cooked carrots, side salad, cole slaw, grilled asparagus. Anything to your liking!

  7. I made this for dinner tonight! SOOOO delicious. I will definitely be adding this to my list of go-to meals! Thanks for sharing.

This is an easy, good meals for me to add to my new recipe catalog. Thank you for sharing!.

    • Bless your heart Marcia…2 years? Ohhh sweet friend, I am so sorry. What a huge burden health issues are, I do understand. What a blessing in the storm that your hubby has been helping with meals. SOOO happy you are back on your feet- PTL!

Usually I get stumped on dinner ideas with chicken breasts but this was easy, fast and DELICIOUS. I added some paprika with salt & pepper after pounding the breasts. Also added some of my favorite chicken rub mix and rosemary to the brown sugar/o.oil mix and cilantro(my favorite herb!) as a garnish.

I was feeling lazy so I made fries and salad to go along. My gf was blown. Thanks!

I tried this recipe and I wasn’t as satisfied. I mainly think it was due to the fact I used drum sticks instead of chicken breast. I used fresh garlic which seemed more like the olive oil was frying it. I made the mistake of adding the brown sugar and letting it set for a while and it became hard. I had dark brown sugar instead of regular which probably didn’t give it the caramel looking glaze. Over all the smell was absolutely amazing!! next time I’ll try it with the chicken breast and regular brown sugar. I will make again. 🙂

Hi. Should this dish be cooked at 400 or 450? It says both. I’m eager to try but want to do it correctly.
    Thank u

  13. I cooked this easy and delicious recipe today and will definitely cook it again. I also pinned it to Pinterest as a favorite. My paste was a little stiff, so I added some more olive oil.

  14. This is so GOOOOOOOOD…
