My sweet friend, Schelly recently posted this adorable crayon idea to her FaceBook wall. Bless her heart, she was so kind to let me share it with you!

So, the next time you go to throw away those broken crayons….

STOP! Collaborate and bake them. Hehe.

Pre-heat your oven to 300 degrees. Gather up those broken crayons and place them in a silicone mold of your liking. Be creative! Bake for approximately 15 minutes until completely melted.

  1. Did you have any problems with your silicone molds afterwards? I did this a while back and felt like the wax from the crayons never totally come off. I never baked food in them again. Did you do anything special to your molds before or after? I love the gingerbread man molds!

Hi there, I didn’t do anything to the molds before I made the crayons in them. BUT, I haven’t baked food in them since making our crayons either! I checked the molds and they still look like brand new, with no crayon residue. In the past, when I was teaching, I used metal muffin pans and sprayed them with a touch of PAM before we filled them with crayons. So, that may an option. Hope this helps! 🙂
