Sausage Gravy over Biscuits

Sausage and gravy over biscuits is an all time favorite in our home. This recipe isn’t just delicious, it’s simple and quick to make as well! I hope your family enjoys it as much as mine does.
Biscuits, sausage, milk, flour, salt and pepper
Brown sausage on med-high heat, when it is cooked through add flour and turn heat down to low
The flour makes a paste on top of the sausage
Add milk and turn up heat to med-high again
Add salt and pepper and stir constantly until it thickens
Biscuits are ready!
Here you have it! MMMmmmm.

I went to Seattle two years ago. Spent the weekend with Ann Voskamp and Shannon Woodward. Shannon made this for us for breakfast, but up here in Canada NO ONE eats or speaks of this. Apparently out there everyone eats it. I finally got to show my husband a photo, and he said we'll have to try it. Yum!!

I hope you blog is here forevah! I'll need to reference often. 🙂

  5. Janelle Nehrenz says:

Darlene, that is so interesting! Of course I am wondering what Canada has that I have been missing out on! lol! If you can think of any signature dishes, I would love to hear about them! Sausage Gravy is soo good..my mom actually puts it over mashed potatoes and has it for dinner! Thank you for all of your encouragement- one day soon I hope to give you a hug in person!!!

  6. Hope your husband had a great birthday–have you tried this in the crockpot and was the setting on low for 8 hours? I'd love to try it over the holidays!! Thanks!

  7. Janelle Nehrenz says:

Hi Janenes! I prepare this on the stovetop, then I place it in the crockpot on the lowest setting. I host Christmas morning..this makes life easy by simply placing the crockpot out on the counter for my family to self-serve. I have also made this the night before and warmed it in the morning if my time is rushed..I add a touch of extra milk, but it tastes just as delicious! Enjoy!

  8. Darlene Schacht says:

I got so excited about the recipe the first time, that I forgot it was your husband's birthday. I love the candle. Hope he had a great day!

  9. Janelle Nehrenz says:

    LOL..thanks Darlene!

  10. Sarah B. SMITH says:

I have never really liked biscuits and gravy. I always thought it made the biscuits too mushy.. but then I saw your recipe and decided I just need to try this if not at least for my hubby. LOVED IT, no mushy here. YUM YUM!

  11. Janelle Nehrenz says:

    Yea Sarah!!!!

  12. I make a scone w/out the sugar and pour sausage gravy over top then slice into wedges -it looks like a cake, would be perfect for a birthday breakfast!

  13. Anna Unruh says:

I have never had this before, but I think I will have to try this Christmas morning for breakfast. It looks good
