Blonde Brownies

Words from my dear friend, *Amy: “Janelle, these are the best things I’ve ever tasted – they are like a cloud of deliciousness. I thought I was going to bite into a chewy bar, but it wasn’t so- it was…. fluffy and….and….. cloud-like! Can I eat the entire pan?”  Bahaaa…I warned her I would quote her.

  1. My husband and I just love these! Thank you, Janelle. 🙂

  2. Charlotte Moore says:

YUM!!!I would like to make these and add caramel pieces since we have people allergic to chocolate. Do you think I could use brown rice flour and sorghum or teff to make them GF?

  3. Hello and thank you for the yummy recipe 🙂 The only thing that concerns me is the use of white flour. There are several healthier alternatives from nature at the Supermarket and natural food stores and if you are aware of one that can be used instead of white flour I would appreciate it if you shared that extra info on your website. I do want to cook them for myself and my husband! Looking forward to that!

Many people might ask. “So why is white flour not good for you?” Take your time to read it below:

White flour is made from stripping wheat of everything useful, adding synthetic B vitamins, and bleaching it to remove the milled yellow color and increase the amount of gluten the flour can produce.
The synthetic vitamins that are infused into the flour are toxic to the human body. The flour itself is devoid of the fiber which aids in passing easily through the large intestine. This slow passage gives more time for the useless synthetic vitamins to seep into the body.
A person following a diet that regularly includes eating white flour products, has an increased the risk of developing diabetes. There are many wheat products available that you can use to replace the flour products. But you need to read the product labels carefully because many of the advertised “whole grain” products on the market are actually made with white flour.

    • Lol, you are very right- this was not a healthy recipe post 😉 Thanks for the information. I’m a GF girl myself. Love to you, Janelle

      • I know it’s not healthy, but I buy the unbleached white flour. It’s at least not bleached and for Janelle’s credit, she said nothing about needing the bleached flour. Thanks for the recipe!!

    • I think most people know that white flour isn’t healthy. But life is short and sometimes a little white flour is good for the soul:)

Janelle, this recipe is beyond 5 stars!!

  4. I came upon upon this recipe and I just happened to have everything it called for, so now there is a warm pan of them in my kitchen. (: They sure smell good!

  6. Oh Janelle – that sounds so yummy! And as soon as I have the time to convert some of the measurements, I’ll bake it!
